Snowflake’s Credibility Melting Fast

Snowflake’s credibility is melting fast under the sunlight I’ve been shining on them in recent blogs. I’ve been calling them out publically to bring awareness to their false and misleading business practices. You think they would learn that you can compete to win and still maintain your integrity. But a recent interview by their CEO proves they still don’t get the message.

Bob Muglia, Snowflake CEO was interviewed for a recent article. After it was published, there was immediate industry reaction to his false and misleading statements. Let’s summarize:

  1. He alluded that there was a direct benchmark between Teradata and Snowflake at a customer he referenced, which never happened.

  2. He stated the company picked Snowflake since Teradata had a hard concurrency limit of 60, which is like saying a Tesla can only go 30 mph.

  3. He quoted misleading price comparisons without any supporting details which Snowflake commonly does.

  4. He said that the company concluded Teradata could not take them into the cloud.

  5. He repeated their frequent exaggeration that companies are switching to Snowflake from “Teradata boxes” which I’ve refuted in previous blogs.

Sunlight is said to be the best disinfectant so I’ll keep exposing Snowflake until they start operating with integrity.

I understand the company he referenced in the article reprimanded Muglia for what he shared. The publisher took the rare action of amending the article to highlight the areas in dispute. And I had to go take a shower after reading it.

Eisenhower said “the supreme quality for leadership is unquestionable integrity. Without it no success is possible.” Integrity starts at the top Bob. Pulling stunts like this will impact the trust from your investors, customers, employees, and the industry at large.
